JOHNSTOWN METEORITE OF 1924
2024 BBQ Day Theme : "I Landed in Johnstown"
Did you know a meteorite fell on Johnstown?? Yes, it's true! 100 years ago on July 6, 1924 a large number of meteorites landed between Johnstown and Mead, one of which fell at Elwell Cemetery (now called Johnstown Cemetery) during a funeral procession.
The Johnstown Historical Society is actively working to bring a part of the meteorite back to Johnstown for good, and a large portion of the space rock will be participating with us on BBQ Day this year! Make plans to see it in the parade or pay it a visit in the park!
Please visit the Historical Society's website to play a part of this bit of Johnstown history!
